Although one takes the same route, why does the scenery while going seems different than while coming back? I think it is because we tend to look certain way in the outside direction while going and it is different when we are coming back. It also depends on the Mood we are in while going and while coming back. Add any physical, visual or mental experiences while each journey to the mix, and obviously your true character as the Base to all ingredients, you got your own, Personal Perception!
It is impossible to control all these parameters (Route taken, Mood, scenery, Any Physical, visual or mental experience) all the time. But we try to be perfect with some of them by following a Routine. A Routine makes you perform all the redundant and mundane yet important tasks in a certain way that keeps them going and you get to spend more time and energy on the tasks you love!
E.g. A drug addict might follow a routine of being a homeless poor guy with no Aim in life but he will be the Slickest Intelligent being once it comes to Scoring his poison! Or He will beg for it!
A CEO will have People running his Wardrobe, Calendar, Car, Home so that he can direct all his Attention to his Work!
I just gave 2 extreme examples because they are the most possible Classic Romantics!
“Romanticism (also the Romantic era or the Romantic period) was an artistic, literary, and intellectual movement that originated in Europe toward the end of the 18th century and in most areas was at its peak in the approximate period from 1800 to 1850. Romanticism was characterized by its emphasis on emotion and individualism as well as glorification of all the past and nature, preferring the medieval rather than the classical. It was partly a reaction to the Industrial Revolution, the aristocratic social and political norms of the Age of Enlightenment, and the scientific rationalization of nature. “

Note – I apologize for quoting Wikipedia but the definition seemed pretty solid to me.
These Romantics, in my opinion, absolutely and boundlessly love their passion and devoutly want to spend most of their time and energy to understand, optimize and build on it. They absolutely do not worry or even think about anything else. Everything else is just Not Important! It is about being Indulgent with your Passion in an Extremely Personal and Emotional way.
On the Contrary, most of the Average-minded People are not able to follow a close to Perfect Routine as they are distracted easily. It could be a beer at the end of the day or Society’s Pretentious Wish list forced upon their Lives or simply Laziness digressing them from a Perfect Routine.
But then I think – why making a Routine has to be the solution? You could be as Random as you want and still follow your passion with all your energy! But then Humans are not built to live with Life’s Fuzzy Logic, how will they ever cope with Transience of Life and Time always Changing Dynamically? They cannot stand it as they already have too much on their plate, and no time and energy to think every second about everything around and make a Reasonable Opinion about it!
I think Perception is always Relative. It is relative to what you want to see, to what are you thinking while watching or experiencing the environment, to what condition your body is in, to your level of anger, depression, joy and sorrow, and a lot of other things. So, briefly, the phenomena/ environment/ thing you are looking at, plays only a percentage of a part in forming an Opinion about it.
In my own definition, an Opinion affected as explained above should be called Judging!
We like to form our own Permanent Perceptions and never change them with Time! This leads us to Judge! This leads to forming Permanent Non-Changing Thoughts about specific people/ situations linked to our Supreme Ego Opinions which most of us like to call our ‘Self Esteem’. This is what keeps us away from the Real Growth. And this, I think, is also termed ‘Stereotyping’.
So, it is time to get a New Perspective on everything you ever looked at or experienced. Try to be a Romantic this time!
“When Kurt Cobain sings ‘I am so horny, But that’s okay….. My will is good!’ He might be describing a Mutual Liking in Progress, Or Maybe a Rape about to happen! Perception, To each his own!”
P.S – Do not forget to watch the movies “Memento”, “Experimenter” and “The Stanford Prison Experiment”
